Angelhair 2020 – Rear Cover

Page_18

Yesterday I posted about my digital comic, Angelhair 2020, and how it’s really the embodiment of the cliche that “hindsight is 20/20”, pun intended. That being said, I did work very hard on this rear cover as an homage to one of the very early comic books in my collection as a youth, Spider-Woman #45. It was really fun to recreate color schemes and apply analogues from my “universe” into this cover — that’s why every rear cover I do is an homage, usually to some lesser Marvel cover that’s more important to me than being instantly recognizable.

PS: Odd synchronicity that I have such a strong connection with Spider-Woman #45 and Amazing Spider-Man #45

The Punchin’ Bag – 29 thru 34

I’m trying to be better about posting on theslimjames. Here’s a collage of the Punchin’ Bag I’ve done in the intervening months. I’ve begun to experiment more with layout and technique. In particular, inkwashes for shadows give me a little more control over light and dark.

PS – The Punchin’ Bag’s “home” is on Tumblr.

PPS – The Punchin’ Bag #1 is on comiXology.

In addition to print issues for sale at cons, you, my remote reader, can read the first 24 Punchin’ Bag strips on comiXology for a scant $0.99! Check it out here!

Also, sorry I haven’t been posting for 6 months. First I was busy, then I forgot, then I found WordPress wasn’t working on Chrome, so I have to use Bing (ugh) to update. I should be in more of the swing of things going forward, or I’ll forget again. Either way, the world keeps turning.

A Punchin’ Bag Full-Color Cover

For the upcoming print edition of The Punchin’ Bag, I decided to do a full color homage to Avengers #4 (or Captain America #337 for the more frugal among us) for the back cover. It’s pretty cool to see the color schemes I have in my head when I’m doing these black and whites actually come to life. Left to right, Flag-Bear-er, Dividing Dude, Tex Arkana, Dr. Sigma, and Blaxtreme.

The Punchin’ Bag 25 – A New Beginning

As cliche as the title is, it at least has double meaning, as Punchy quits the Elite Team and I try out a few new stylistic flourishes for the “season 2” of Punchin’ Bag (to be collected in the second print edition at a later date).
